Meet the Board
Founder and Chairwoman – Lisa Ann Pinkerton
Lisa Ann Pinkerton is founder of Women In Cleantech & Sustainability, a San Francisco Bay Area group dedicated to the advancement of women in various environmental and technology sectors. She is also Founder and President of Technica Communications, where she handles marketing, social media, content production and public relations for cleantech and biotech startups. Additionally, Lisa Ann is Co-Founder and Marketing Chair for the Global Cleantech Cluster Association, an international speaker and moderator and documentary filmmaker. Lisa Ann is a former award-winning broadcast journalist who reported for National Public Radio, PBS Television, WPXI-NBC, American Public Media, and Free Speech TV.
Vice Chairwoman – Sara Eve Fuentes
Sara is currently a sustainability program manager with Commercial Industrial Waste Applications, where she conducts site audits and surveys for LEED and ISO certification and manages projects for ZERO Waste facilities. Previously Sara was a marketing director for World Financial Group and a sustainability program manager for the Green Schools National Conference. She has been on the board of Women in CleanTech and Sustainability since 2013.
Treasurer - Anna Astretsova
Anna manages project finance at First Solar. Previously she worked at GreenWorld Capital and the Adidas Group. Anna has an MS in Applied Mathematics from Lomonosov Moscow State University and an MS in Financial Mathematics from Stanford Uiversity. She has been on the board of Women in Cleantech and Sustainability since 2013.
Secretary – Kelly Ratchinsky
Kelly Ratchinsky is Board Chair Secretary for Women in Cleantech & Sustainability (WCS). As Board member she brings expertise on transportation innovation and smart cities. Kelly has earned a MSc and BSc in Ocean / Mechanical engineering specializing in autonomous vehicle control systems and renewable energy systems. Globally oriented and technically trained, Kelly has enjoyed success collaborating with business and technical teams to manage and execute industrial scale projects.
Pat Christianson, Events & Marketing Chair
After spending over 15 year in Consumer Goods, Pat found her passion in Sustainability for the Built Environment and the sharing economy, she is invested in helping make the world a greener place. She has successfully brought new products to market for the most important European and Mexican retailers; she also has developed and sourced product through Asia, Latin America and Europe. Multidimensional thinker and advanced communicator that develops highly productive and trusting relationships.
Pat has managed local event marketing, product development, product sourcing, merchandising, and manufacturing teams. She holds a LEED AP BD+C accreditation and is also a yoga instructor.
Jen Cogdell, Events & Marketing Committee
Jennifer Cogdell has been participating in WCS since 2016. “Jen’s” career in Renewable Energy began in 2005, spanning utility scale Wind and Solar Project Development and she is currently Director of Project Development for ET Capital Solar Partners (USA) Inc. in Pleasanton, California. She completed her Master of Environmental Law and Policy at Vermont Law School in 2015 and considers herself a lifelong learner, avid for sharing what she learns with those who come along her path and show passion.
Anita Gavini, Finance Committee
Anita is currently a Business Development Manager for a local environmental services firm. Her prior experience spans over 10 years in various supply chain operations and strategy positions at Ford Motor Company and Target Corporation, as well as management consulting. Passionate about sustainability from both a social and environmental perspective, Anita volunteers actively with the GRID Alternatives International Program (energy access/sustainable development) as well as the North South Foundation (educational programming). She holds a Masters in Sustainability from Harvard University Extension School, a MBA from Duke University, and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Distribution Management from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In her free time she loves to hike, travel, and compete on a local dragon boat team.
Susan Kasper, Events & Marketing Committee
Susan works at ABB where she tests and troubleshoots new and existing products in support of on time product delivery for customers across the globe; many of which aid in environmental research, and air quality assessment. She received her Bachelor's in Physics and her Master's in Applied Physics with an emphasis on PV and Semiconductors. Within the past couple of years she has found her passion for a more sustainable future and transitioned from the semiconductor industry into the cleantech industry. She looks forward to a future in which our cities function and power sustainably, free of pollution and waste.
Melanie Lucas-Conwell, Career Development Committee Co-Chair
Melanie is currently pursuing an MBA in Sustainable Management from the Presidio Graduate School, focusing her studies on renewable energy development and solving climate change through technology. Before her MBA studies, Melanie was a Global Business Product Manager at Google, spearheading product development and commercialization strategy for Emerging advertising formats. She has volunteered for the WCS Career Development Committee since 2016, helping launch and grow the Mentorship program. She holds a BA in International Relations from the University of San Diego and she enjoys rowing crew in her spare time.
Marcela Cabrera Luna, Events & Marketing Committee
Marcela works at Tesla with customer experience and partnerships, executing her vision and collective goal to helps us move in the right direction with sustainable lifestyles and a 100% clean energy future. Her leadership has involved roles with engagement operations and partnerships, program management, policy, corporate social responsibility and marketing. She has worked with startups, NGO’s and Fortune 500 technology companies in the Silicon Valley. Marcela’s achievements include developing policy on pressing climate change concerns caused by traditional extractive practices and the consumption of natural resources focusing in oil, and published work on policies and international laws that must take place to improve the issue and build a more sustainable future with cleantech and renewable energy. She received a Master’s degree from the University of San Francisco in International Studies where she was a MAIS Scholar. She graduated from UC Berkeley as an IDEAL Scholar.
Julia Murphy, Career Development Committee Co-Chair
Julia is a skilled investment professional with 15 years of energy, finance (project & corporate)
and business development experience in utilities, private equity, consulting and renewables. As
Managing Director, she built Ultra Capital which is an investment firm that invests through project
finance in sustainable assets across energy, water, waste and agriculture. Additionally, she
originated projects across these sectors. Previously, she was CFO of 3Degrees where led
finance, accounting, trade operations, insurance, investor relations and human resources. As
Treasurer of Babcock & Brown, she built, invested and financed a $2B infrastructure fund. Prior
to Babcock & Brown she led $9B PG&E’s utility refinancing to emerge from Chapter 11. Julia has
worked internationally on projects in Sydney, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia and London. She has an
MBA in Finance & Accounting, University of Chicago Booth; BS in Biology, Occidental College.
Vanessa Roscoe, Events & Marketing Committee
Vanessa Roscoe (LinkedIn) is a Vice President, Social Innovation at Edelman in Silicon Valley, leading public relations and communications marketing work for a portfolio of propose-driven clients. She has eleven years of experience leading sustainability strategy for Fortune 50 companies, including The Coca-Cola Company, Apple and Dow Building & Construction. Her desire is to lead companies away from business-as-usual and towards a more sustainable future, where market-driven climate restoration becomes the new model. She holds an MBA in sustainable management from Presidio Graduate School and a BS in marketing from Fairfield University.
Anandi Yadav, Finance Committee
Anandi joined the WCS group 2 years ago and is part of the Finance Committee overseeing the budget and sponsorship requirements for the organization. She currently works at Sylvatex, Inc. – a green nanochemistry company focused on creating sustainable energy solutions for the planet. She leads up the Corporate Development efforts at Sylvatex and works to manage some of the company’s strategy and ongoing projects. Anandi has a strong technical background in nanotechnology and holds a M.Sc. and Ph.D. from the Technical University of Munich in Germany. She also has a diploma in Project Management and Global Business Management from the University of California, Berkeley. Having lived on three different continents around the world, she has developed a passion for traveling and meeting people from various cultures and backgrounds. In her spare time she enjoys reading about world history, art and is also a trained dancer.
