Position: Senior Energy Analyst
Location: Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Sacramento
CPUC is seeking a Senior Energy Analyst to develop policy and oversee implementation of efficiency programs for low-income residents. Under the general direction of the Program and Project Supervisor, the Senior Energy Analyst will lead complex and quantitative analysis critical to setting policy for Energy Savings Assistance and California Alternative Rates for Energy programs over the next program cycle starting in 2021.
Specifically, the Senior Energy Analyst’s role in new policy development includes:
• developing original and impartial policy options,
• soliciting, reviewing, summarizing, and incorporating stakeholder input or proposals,
• compiling and presenting analytical evidence in support or rebuttal of options or
In overseeing implementation of current Energy Saving Assistance policy and programs, the Senior Energy Analyst will work to proactively anticipate challenges and help ensure successful implementation of policy and programs. The analyst will also evaluate the efficacy of the decision directed activities to identify gaps and inconsistencies in performance and data needed to inform future policies.
In policy development and implementation oversight, the analyst will take a broad and strategic view, and collaborate with other divisions across the Commission, to add value through considering the bigger picture state and commission goals. Specifically, we will work together to meet California’s goal of a carbon-free electric system by 2045 and through the Commission’s integrated resource planning effort, do so affordably, reliably, and safely.
